In case the Guest Additions fail to build we may have to install the Linux kernel headers (see How do I install kernel header files?) or build-essential tools in addition. Installing Guest Additions from Virtual Box Manager In the guest you will then have access to a CD-ROM with the installer.

Installing Guest additions from the repositories If you have trouble installing Ubuntu in a VirtualBox VM, because the installer window does not fit the low resolution screen size, you can move the window with Alt+ F7.
